No Man Is An Island
While working on this piece, the song ‘No man is an island’ by Tenth Avenue North, played on a loop. The proverb comes from a sermon written by the poet John Donne, “No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main…” It was the meaning behind these powerful words that I could relate to. No one is truly self-sufficient, everyone must rely on association in order to thrive.
