Madhvee Deb

Madhvee’s artwork is a product of an interdisciplinary collaboration between photography, video, audio, and mix media. Study of human perception, remembrance, and identity frequently guides her art-making process. More often than not this results in a metaphoric representation of the findings inspired by engaged subjects as diverse as gender dysphoria, death, and elements of impermanence and temporality.

While she uses a variety of materials and processes, in each project her methodology is consistent, leading to coherently resolved works. Her choice of material, shape, and format are always guided by the subject matter of a particular body of work. Each project often consists of multiple pieces, usually in a range of different media grouped around specific themes and meanings. During the research and production, new areas of interest arise and lead her to the next body of work. Her art-making process is in particular informed by the notion of capturing emotions, remembrance, identity, human perception, and comprehension of reality.

She completed her Masters in Arts in Fine Arts in 2014 from Goldsmith’s College of Art (Lasalle College of The Arts, Singapore).

Her Solo exhibitions include Digital Waste: The Sweet Smell of Burning, Georgetown Festival, Penang, (2018), and Galleri Soho, Västerås, Sweden, (2019).
